Leadership Transition Announced at Civic Committee and Commercial Club

Dear Commercial Club Member:

We are writing to let you know that Kelly Welsh has announced his intention to retire as President in June 2022. For the last five years, we have benefitted immeasurably from Kelly’s thoughtful, focused, and forward-leaning leadership. During his tenure, the Civic Committee and its affiliated organizations, Civic Consulting Alliance, Kids First Chicago, and P33, have helped shape local and state decision-making and advanced important initiatives on some of the most critical issues facing our region, including job growth, city and state finances, transportation, education, and improving access to economic opportunity while helping our region address the myriad of challenges posed by the pandemic.  Kelly was one of the leaders in the effort to create P33 to help enable the Chicago region to achieve its full potential as one of the leading tech centers of the world and promote inclusive economic growth.

Kelly will remain active on the Civic Committee, Commercial Club, and several of our boards and initiatives. We have begun a search to find his replacement and have engaged Russell Reynolds (Charles Tribbett, Charles.tribbett@russellreynolds.com and Lloyd Semple, Lloyd.semple@russellreynolds.com) to assist in the search.

We cannot overstate how much we appreciate Kelly’s leadership, wisdom, and insight over these five years. Kelly has always embodied the highest ideals of our organization and of our members, and we are deeply grateful for his service. We are equally grateful that he will remain a vital partner for us as we continue to make the Chicago region a better place for everyone to live, work, and do business.
